Hi, I’m Aakanksha (aa-kank-shaa). I love stars, the color red, learning, and telling stories — emphasis on the stories. As a child, I couldn’t bear to give anyone a straight answer. Every detail mattered.

Not much has changed since then. ​Originally from just outside San Francisco, CA, I’m currently pursuing a B.A. in Media & Journalism and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill — which just means I get to take classes that teach me how to find and share stories that leave an impact. A lot of my work — ranging from journalism to helping build startups — focuses on connecting individual lives to the bigger picture, and drawing attention to institutional issues.

While I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, I am currently enamored by the world of visual communications, namely photography and filmmaking, as means to build on my love for storytelling (both of which I’ve been teaching myself).
